The only authorized source of original Rufus LIN paintings

Rufus Lin Studio is a very small art dealer based in Vancouver BC, Canada, and Tokyo, Japan, with the exclusive rights to sell the original acrylic paintings of Canadian artist Rufus Lin.

Most of Rufus Lin’s work is in the hands of private collectors or in his private collection, but now you can purchase a small selection of his paintings on this web site.

The artist’s entire private collection can be viewed in digital form on this web site. However, some of these have been designated by the artist as not for sale. All of the original acrylic paintings themselves are in Tokyo, Japan, where they are sometimes exhibited in private shows. It is from Tokyo that any purchased painting will be shipped to you.

Thank you for your interest in the art of Canadian painter Rufus Lin.

HOW TO PURCHASe a rufus lin original acrylic painting

Art collectors are drawn to the acrylic landscapes and paintings of living Canadian artist Rufus Lin because of his expressionist style and quirky interpretations.

However, less than 150 of his acrylic paintings exist. Except for those sold here, or in the hands of private collectors, the artists paintings are in his private collection, maintained in Tokyo, Japan.

Every month or two, as the only art dealer worldwide able to sell his paintings, we receive just 10 selected paintings from the artist, which we make available for sale on this web site.

All of the paintings in Rufus Lin’s private collection can be viewed, without any special equipment or software, in a virtual art gallery here.

About Rufus Lin

Rufus Lin (1959-) is a Canadian artist, composer/pianist and writer, based in Vancouver and Tokyo. His output is relatively small, consisting of less than 150 acrylic paintings. Apart from private collectors in Japan, he has not made the paintings in his own personal collection available for sale in North America, and only began doing so in the summer of 2024.

Rufus Lin’s work

In general, the paintings of Rufus Lin may perhaps best be described as contemporary expressionist. In the words of the artist, “Rather than attempting to accurately convey what the eye sees, as with a photograph, surely it suffices for the artist to communicate the same thing, as freely as possible, as long as it is possible, perhaps with some effort if need be, to understand what is being depicted.” This thinking explains the curves and bright colors that inform the artist’s paintings.

FEATURED PAINTING

Howling White Wolf

The painting shown in this poster is a 333×333 mm acrylic painting on museum grade acid-free paper, unframed.

Why does the wolf howl? Is the moon its sole companion? Has it been ostracized by its pack? The hillock on which it stands, along with its posture, form a path drawing the eye to the moon. One of the artist’s typical representations of a tree balances out the simple composition of the picture.
